  51. summer of 1993.

  53. Selected Invited Papers: In 1992, Polly spoke at numerous
  54. conferences, including National Net'92, Computers, Freedom &
  55. Privacy II, EDUCOM, University of Michigan, University of Illinois
  56. Urbana-Champaign, Maine Library Association, Nevada Library
  57. Association, and about thirty other venues. The topic was "Surfing
  58. the Internet"; how small libraries and schools can get connected
  59. to the Internet, and why the public needs access to the NREN.

  63. If you wanted to categorize my Internet involvement, you might say
  64. I speak for "the little guy". I believe access to information is
  65. of paramount importance to developing countries and developing
  66. humans. I am a proponent of K-12 access, public library access, and
  67. individual access. I have been a user of the Internet for three
  68. years; only in the past two years have I become something of a
  69. national spokesperson for public libraries and the Internet.
